Jordan directed and produced the second American remake of the heist thriller, which hits theaters next March
The teaser trailer for the second remake of The Thomas Crown Affair is here. Michael B. Jordan plays the titular billionaire turned art thief alongside Adria Arjona, who stars as the investigator tasked with taking him down. The art heist finds the enemies begin to fall for each other despite their opposing missions.
The teaser opens on Thomas Crown, walking through a glowing fine art museum. “I’ve been taking risks my entire life,” he says. “But last night it was different. I felt alive.” The trailer heavily features shots of Vincent Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, which appears to be Crown’s ultimate prize across his art heists. As he continues through his monologue, Crown is depicted in a series of high-action scenes, including scaling down skyscrapers and engaging in hand-to-hand combat, and provoking Arjona’s character amid their steamy affair.
The Thomas Crown Affair is Jordan’s second stint as director and lead actor, following 2023’s Creed III. The cast is rounded out by Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, and Pilou Asbæk in undisclosed roles. Grammy Award-winning musician Jon Batiste scored the film.
This is the second American remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. The original, starring Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway, was released in 1968. Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo took over the roles of Crown and Banning in a 1999 remake. Academy Award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh starred in a looser, gender-bent adaptation titled Easy Money, where she played an ennui-riddled millionaire who stages an armed robbery.
Back in March, Michael B. Jordan received his first Academy Award for his leading performance in the Ryan Coogler-directed Sinners.
